In the upcoming build—1.0 (18)—we have implemented a strategy where each pencil setting is persisted on a document basis. Will this do it? Are you sure you want a "global" setting?

Per document is a great start! But maybe a preset I can save as a favorite would be something?

Absolutely. We think it is important to be able to quickly choose earlier settings/favourites. The solution is still on a concept stage though.
